To beginning with, you probably should do small trips in your country and then, you'll be more confident to go abroad with your family and friends ! ; )

I went to USA (California) several years ago from now : I lived at my penfriend's house. It was such a great trip ! I'll never forget all moments I had there !
I also went to London to improve a little bit my English : it was more about learning than visiting London ! But I really enjoyed be there too ! = D
