Not sure if this belongs here, but it effects the lolita comunity.
This is a poster for an upcoming documentary, which normally I don't care about things like this but since they have lumped lolita fashion in with pedophiles it's made me very upset. I am planning on viewing the documentary when it is avaible then I will take the correct course. But for now I would like to see this poster removed.
" For anyone who hasn’t seen this, well here you go. This a poster for an actual movie about Pedophilia. In this movie there is a section about Lolita and how it encourages Pedophilia. More then likely the director of this got his information from people who read the book Lolita, or just look at some at the clothes, not actual participants of the fashion. Had he interviewed even ONE Lolita and asked his/her opinion on whether or not to include this in his movie he would have found his views to be completely wrong despite the “evidence” that he had previously “researched.” I find it to be even more outraging that someone can judge how anyone dresses! This is freedom of expression in the form of clothing, not a way to attract men who like young girls. Sigh, I’m done raging for right now. I just had to get that off my chest, it made me quite mad. "
"Please sign this petition to have this horrid image removed.
The girl in the photo was lied to about the nature of this photo and was told “it is just for a Japanese fashion photoshoot” "
What a trashy "documentary". It is very sensationalist. Starting out by implying that pedophilia is condoned by major religion, and pulling "juicy" quote snippets like "pedophilia can't be cured" -- you can see they just want to shock people as much as possible.
What's with the lighting and background music, too? It's obviously meant to add to the grim/shocking atmosphere.
Absolutely disgusting filmaking practices. And did they really misinform the Lolita on the poster about the photoshoot? If so, she can definitely bring a huge lawsuit against them.
"We live in a society that condemns pedophiles, though biological instinct and world cultures throughout history suggest that an attraction to adolescents is as natural as it is unavoidable. The fashion industry on the one hand sexualizes ever-younger girls while those who act on these instincts are reviled. The apparent hypocrisy at the heart of society forces the question:
What do we mean when we talk about Pedophilia? Are All Men Pedophiles?"
What?! Are we supposed to accept pedophiles are normal people following their "natural instincts"?
WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!!
I hope they are laughed right out of whatever film festivals they attend.
So why the hell would anyone think a peddo would get wet in the pants by a 20 year old lolita just because she wears a pink frilly dress? (and btw kinds these days doesn't even wear pink frilly dresses) I mean seriosuly. Someone should ask a pedophile about this. I really doubt fashion has anything to do with pedophiles sexual orientation.
I just emailed the director, Mr. Breure, and this is what he told me "The documentary does not offend Lolita nor does it compare it to pedophilia. Wild assumptions about what pedophilia is or isn't is why the documentary was made in the first place. The reason why we choose Lolita is because in the film we do a section about Japanese culture."
I promiced him that I would watch the film and judge for myself. And I will.

I agree, and I'm planning on doing the same. At the moment I'm more offend by the poster than the fact the subject of lolita is in the film. There are a few good docments out there that talk about lolita fashion but they don't get much coverage...

How sickening.
I find the lighting, sets, and music makes it look phony and disgusting.

Pedo's can be attracted to children to young teens(12-14). I really doubt pedo's would be attracted to us just because our dresses are frillys But I've never met one to ask.. We lolita's wear more clothing then most children these days.
