I have a question for anyone who is an artist...I do a lot of paint by number kits...would you consider those insulting since it's people painting someone else's design? or are you ok with them?

I don't think that's insulting at all.  It takes a lot of work and time to paint those.

^What she said.

"It's all in my head" I said, banging a piano
'I've not been so alone' I thought, 'since kicking in the womb'
I drank so much tea, I wrote my letters in kanji
Around the block I walked, and walked,
pretending you were with me...

I agree with previous writers.

Everyone take things step by step.

I think they're a fun and cute hobby. And it's not insulting at all! But I wouldn't like..... call it artistic or anything.

I hope you get what I mean by that ^^

This may sound harsh, but while I do not see it as an insult, I do not see paint-by-numbers kits as artistic either. It's great for passing time/getting started with painting (as in, realizing/learning the fundamentals regarding tones, 'shades', color, etc), but it definitely should not be considered a masterpiece. There is much more to art than just coloring/shading. Heck, I don't even consider myself an 'artist', even though I understand the fundamentals of color/depth/'shading', and have experience in working with RL commissions. There are so much more to art than just knowing where to shade, what color to use, etcetc.

I don't see anything wrong with feeling good about how something turned out. c: But do definitely try to step out of paint-by-number kits and try freehand painting sometime~ :'D
