Honestly, if you aren't willing to buy the dress at full price, perhaps you should buy another dress.

You don't need to wear brand, but wearing fake brand, to me, seems wrong.

How would you feel if you worked so hard to make something, only to have someone plagiarize your ideas for profit?

There is the "but they don't make them in my size" argument as well.    First of all, anything can happen.  Baby did make the LL size which was basically made off my sizes (10-12 at the time) While it was odd to be measured by the designers and being asked to try on the clothes for Mrs. Isobe's approval, Baby probably didn't profit in the long run.  It took them time to sell everything off.   They probably took a loss off the whole thing.  However, if they did sell well I am sure Baby would continue making this size, plus making larger sizes in the designs we all love (which cost a TON to produce).   But since few people supported them when they tried, they would be hard pressed to go back to making larger sized clothes again.

But I can not really pity those who say "I want it and it is not my size"  First of all, I lost 70 pounds and was able to wear lolita.  That was through hard work and sacrifice.   Second of all, and more importantly, the larger and taller girls who are into lolita tend to also be the most creative.  In fact, most of my best lolita friends are tall or large lolita girls who find a way to make the fashion fit their bodies.  Also, they are a lot more fun to be around!

And there is a demand for high quality plus size lolita clothes... instead of blaming the brands for not filling the demand and buying illegal knockoffs, take this as an opportunity to open your own brand to cater to the needs of plus size dolls!  Sure it would be a lot of hard work, but ANYTHING is possible if you really want to make it happen.

First of all, I think a lot of people are misunderstanding why I was considering buying this replica. 

It's not because I cannot afford the original. And it's also not because I'm too fat for it :/ I'm very skinny and have had dealt ed-nos issues in the past, for goodness sake.

What attracted me to this replica is that I can make it custom LENGTH. I cannot wear dresses that are shorter than and 1 or 2 in above my ankle. Combined with that, I'm 5ft 9.5in tall. People have suggested to me to layer an underskirt, but if I'm lucky enough that the original jsk hits me at my knee, it will look very odd with an underskirt continuing all the way down to my ankle. 

What I wanted was for DoL to make a long jsk version of this dress -- basically a maxi length dress using that fabric. 

In that case, there is no way that anyone would mistaken my dress for the real thing, even from far. 

What I'm really after, in the end, is the print. Yes, I agree that even stealing just the printed fabric is bad. I'm probably not going to order from DoL in the end, as I've already commissioned 4 original skirts from my seamstress. 

However I felt like posting a response here, because people were just raging all over the place without even really reading my first post.

I think it's okay. Like your said, it's not suppose to be a copy of the original in the first place.

However I would totally avoid clobba. They totally screwed me over. Use another company/shipping service.

I can't see a problem with replicas. The only thing I'm a little against is when they put the original brand's logo on the replicas.
On a nike-replica, put the mark upside-down or some shit, don't copy it straight off. :<

Other than that, I really have nothing against it. Seeing as the lolita-fashion isn't an original idea itself, and the idea behind the prints (cupcakes, unicorns, stripes, fruits and whatnot) has been around for longer than my mother, I think calling thief is a little hypocritical.

The reason to get a replica is especially justified if it's like in ameliecafe's case, that the replicas can be made coustom length. I understand this totally, I hate short skirts. I think I look like a hooker if the skirt ends above my knee. :<

Honestly I don't care if it's real or replica. If it's a design that I love and the orginal owners don't feel any need to sue, I think it's fine. There are no real orginal ideas after all...just copies without an orginal. Each one is different in a way that makes them unique.
