Well, in Japan I go by the name my father gave me, coupled with his surname.
佐伯、理恵(さえき、りえ)-Saeki, Rie. "Rie" means "blessed with logic"
, which I doubt applies to me in actuality.
Speaking of Japanese surnames, ours, I'm proud to say, is quite rare. You can usually tell where your family originated just by the characters of your last name-well, at least this is the case with Japanese.
For example, someone with the last name 森(もり)"Mori",which means forest...you can probably guess that's the geographical reigion where their ancestors came from.
Our family, the Saeki family. according to history, were a large clan known for having the most vocal of fighters, and for being quite ferocious in battle.
If I was back in the U.S., I'd go by Lea, but I'd still keep my Japanese surname.
According to my ex-boyfriend, I was his Em, which is just a cute way to say 'sweet-heart' in Vietnamese; not sure if that counts at all...
