You are in america like me?

I live in Texas, so I am not really close to any shops that carry any Lolita like clothing. (I am so jealous of people in california).

ANd I thought about taking up sewning to make my own but have no idea how.

any ideas?

Last time I tried to buy online, the site I was at was fully in Japanese... I panicked and left when I couldn't figure out how to buy.

If it has lace, I love it.

You can buy from any Japanese store as long as you have an external bidding site like Celga. (Though using external bidding sites may be a tad expensive, you can get the Japanese brand dress you want. I suggest studying different bidding sites and their shipping costs, first. I accidently used a bad bidding site once and had to pay over 70 dollars for a 15 dollar item.) You have to learn how to not be afraid to browse Japanese sites and often contact the designers of the lolita clothing. If you ask the Japanese designers a question in English, more often than not they will respond in English. The only thing you have to worry about is getting a Paypal account and saving up enough money for the dress you want. If you want to buy lolita online (which is in all honesty probably one of the easiest ways to get what you want most of the time) then here's a list saying whether or not certain lolita shops ship overseas: here.

I live in California and the nearest Lolita shop is about 4 hours away (in San Fransisco). By plane. -_-

And if you're still worried about the language barrier and you're thinking you're going to be interested in lolita for a while, take some language classes.  They're actually really fun.  :]

I alway use a translator like google translator when visit a japanese site. the translation is far from perfect, but it's still way easier to understand how to navigate and read measurements and stuff :) A lot of the lolita pages also got a button simple saying "for oversee orders" and that's always written in english how to purchase from their shop :) Mostly it's as easy as sending them an email telling them what you want to order :)

I think anyone can learn to use a sewing machine. Just like anyone can learn to do math :) It only takes a bit of practice and memorization ^_^

I know when I first started out sewing, everything I made either fell apart, or looked horrible! However now I plan to make one of my outfits for an upcoming Lolita fashion show!

If you find the right tutorials it can be really easy! It usually does involve a small bit of math(which is why I referenced it before) but not too much, just small simple calculations that you could probably use a calculator for if you needed to!

The fabric is really all you should worry about after that. Sometimes some light cotton fabric is just the right thing, others you may want some silky type fabric(which will be a bit more expensive) it all depends on the style you are looking for :)

If you have your heart set on buying clothes, not making them, try etsy shops, e-bay stores, or maybe commission someone here on MAF?
