Oh, this is a nice site~ no argument please?
Do believe in some God or deity? List what you believe in.

Personally I'm agnostic. I hope for a peaceful and quiet death. I don't ever want to see my loved ones again, because I know I'd dissapoint them. Especially because my family is mostly christian.

Do any of you feel afraid to tell your friends or family about your religious beliefs?

I believe in something. A sort of shapeless energy that exists in everything, everywhere, but that isn't "intelligent" and free-thinking. That's God, imo. A kind of force that makes things grow, or live. It gives birth, and it kills, but not out of happiness or anger, it just does 'cause it needs to be done.

I believe it's our hope, and our wishes, and our destiny. It's not set in stone, it can be manipulated, changed, bent, used.

I believe it's what people percieve as magic, or paranormal things. It's our soul, and it's what people sometimes refer to as "hivemind" or "astral projection" or "fortune telling".

Eveything exists in this energy, or rather, the energy exists in everything, and just like a scream travel in the air, thoughts or feelings can travel in this energy, and reach people far away.

I believe that when you die, if you wish to keep on going, the energy inside you (your soul) might carry memories and wishes or yourself, your personality. If you don't wish to continue you'll dissolve and mix with the rest of the universe, but either way you'll be reborn, in a way.

I don't believe there are any rules, there's no judgement. There are only the force that makes things keep on going, and it doesn't really give a f about any of us, we just happened to get born, it's our problem what we chose to make of it. To it, we're a fart in space.

The end.

"It's all in my head" I said, banging a piano
'I've not been so alone' I thought, 'since kicking in the womb'
I drank so much tea, I wrote my letters in kanji
Around the block I walked, and walked,
pretending you were with me...

I guess what i believe is similar in ways to what evig_ believes i think that 'god' is in everything but i also believe that maybe there is some sort of 'higher power' that is somewhat sentient? probably more than one if so i don't think we should blame good or bad happenings on this i imagine if there is anything it's just out there keeping nature in check =] and as for life after death i believe in reincarnation i think we do have a soul that will carry on after us and the people we meet we are destined to meet and as for our bodies we're eaten up by the other insects and animals and we give nourishment to the earth ^__^ either way we should still try and be good people or you never know we might come back as maggots!

I'm sure the people who love you wouldn't be disappointed with you for believing something different you seem like a lovely girl and a good person that is what should matter more than anything

This is a lovely thread, Eevee.

I don't belive in a god or in deity. I never have. Religion has crossed my path few times in my young life and it was probably bacause of that I was so interested and curious about it when I entered teenhood. I always tried to find the link between people with beliefs and people without beliefs but I never suceeded to find it. But I have always wonder why I don't seem to be able to believe in a higher power. I guess I just see too many problems with religion. I belive you can love each other and be good to each other without religion. There doesn't have to be a threat or a reward for people to be good.

I don't belive in heaven, hell or reincarnation. I believe when we die we are gone and that's it. Sometimes I envy people who can keep their loved ones through their belives, but on the other hand I don't think I would feel any comfort knowing someone was looking own on me from above, or like Eevee said, reunite with them in afterlife.

I have never felt odd or mistreated because I'm an atheist. So few people are religious here. And religion isn't for that matter anything you talk about, it's a very personal thing. Religion is easy to hide. I had a best friend who was deeply christian, it took me two years to find out (and i didn't figure it out by myself, my other best friend mentioned it). It didn't affect our frienship in any way.

I was raised spritiual. Though, raised under one belief structure and god. When I became older I broke off entirely from that though, still remaining spiritual, just made a religion more for my own self. I have this opinion that faith and religion is really just somehing in our lifes to keep us moving forward, or reassure us? So, I feel it is highly a personal thing. Even if everyone is christian, we'd still have some slight different beliefs. Anyway - I have basically something entirely off into another aspect. It gets pretty lengthly so I won't explain.

But due to not following my parent's original beliefs, I generally keep quiet about it because I know they will not be happy. They wish to drag me along with them. Forever.

I completely agree with you.  I don't believe in any higher power either.  I feel that all I need to believe in is myself and the people I surround myself with.  They are tangible beings that I can trust and confide in.

Over-doing it, being hyprocritical about it, or falsing following the religion. I dislike those types of christians /andor other religions. Mother of my friend just goes to the catholic church to use the confession, then just runs off and repeats all her sins again because well god will forgive her again, riiiight? -sigh-

As a Japanese, most will probably expect me to say that I do not have a religion or believe in a deity.

It is true that a good portion of Japanese have "Irreligious views", but some have something they believe in. Buddhism and Shintoism are the primary religions in our culture, so you can understand why the idea of a supreme 'deity' isn't as prominent in Japan.

However, I feel that I'm a sort of mix between a Shintoist and Agnostic (which, funny enough, doesn't have a word in Japanese-it's sort of a new idea that's been presented here). I believe that something is out there, but I'm not sure what. At the same time, I feel compelled to the Shinto rites that have been practiced in my family for generations. It's hard to choose between the two, really.
