Silly question, but how do you sit in your lolita ensemble?

Yes, I realize this is a silly question, but I was just wondering... How do you often sit in your lolita clothing?
For me, once I sit down in a chair, my petticoats gather in the front of the skirt/dress to make an awkward balloon-y space in the front of my dress. I have to smooth it out and that ruins my petticoats and makes my dress less-poofy every time I sit down.
Also, do you sit with your legs crossed? Do you cross them at the ankles or knees? Personally, for me, I sit with my ankles crossed because it's more lady-like. :o

I read a guide about that once. The trick is to sit on the edge of the chair :) I also learned to not cross ankles or knees. Just put your legs together, place your feet a little aside (not right under you) so the legs are a little leaning. Uhm. I don't know if you understand my weird description here... ^^' I'll see if i can find a pic ^^
