I can't remember if we have a tread like this ^^'
Anyway. I used to wear wigs every dag for years so i know a thing or two :)
I don't find wigs to be very hard to take care of. If they are of decent quality you don't have to do much. Use a wig brush or a brush/comb with big gaps between each "tooth". You can also use your fingers. You need to be both careful and patient.
It's said that you should wash you wig about ever 5th wear i belive i read someplace, but I wash mine like once a year and i don't find it neccessary at all. They stay just fine :)
Remember if you have a long wig it will get worn out a lot faster than a short one due to friction, and you will have to deal with it tangling every second. A short wig stays in shape longer. The shorter, the less friction. You can still maintain a long wig by wear it in braids and updos and it will last very long. It won't tangle and have to deal with so much friction :) To wear a wig with the hair just plain let out shortens the life span maximum.
Some wigs are heat resistant, but I still don't recommend you to use warm tools in it. The wig will be ruined much faster if you use hot irons and such. So try to buy a wig in the style you want rather than changing the style of the wig to much.
To extend the lif span of a wig you can always cut it :) Just like the real hair the ends of the hair get worn out first. A long wig can have a new life if you cut it shoulder lenght for instance :)
Well, that was all i could think of! Just ask if you have any questions! ^^

medium temperature water and a little schampoo :) apply gently, you don't have to rub it. don't rub it around like you do with your real hair or else it will tangle :)

I totally can´t add anything else to Zeruda´s answers.....except maybe that, if your wig is curly (with biiig curls) I´ve found it more useful to let the wig dry on a towel.
It takes more, and you might have to more it around/switch the towel....but that way, the curls don´t "deform" and loosen due to the effect of drying with water dripping off them and gravity and stuff like that. I´ve only washed my curly wig once, but I noticed this--the hairclip that dried on a towl with the main wig´s had its curls stay closer to its original ones, while the one that I drip-dried had its curls "stretch out" slightly.

I think it depends but most wigs from what I've seen stay curly but they do loose a little bit of the curl
