so i'm always talking to my boyfriend about fashion and stuff, and i think i've rubbed off on him! but this leads to me to a puzzling problem-what about guy's fashion? it seems so limited (they don't even get to wear dresses! poor fellas...), and there's not much on the internet that i've found that was useful... :c so what can i tell him when he asks for my advice? we've gone shopping together for him, but in that we also ran into a similar (but worse for him) problem that i have while shopping: a limited range of products. we live in a rural area, so our choices are cut down to regular mall stores and resale shops... any suggestions?
P.S.-he also loves Japanese things and the like, so i thought this would be the perfect place to ask. ^-^;

It would help to know what kind of fashion he likes

Actually, a friend and I were discussing this the other day (he's not my boyfriend, but he is a boy XD). He was complaining that there are no Asian fashion sites for guys. All of them are very pink and frilly and are more focused on girls.
I wish there were more resources for men who enjoy fashion.
And I have to agree, it would be much easier to help if we knew the style he liked. I would love to help. :)

I was more thinking that an American guy might gravitate more toward shibuya/onii kei style or mode since they're not so feminine/unisex like vk or kodona. I'm interested in all of those styles since it's really Japanese mens fashion that I like. I'd be glad to post some inspiration and possible shopping links if I know what he wants to wear.

i agree, it would help to know what he likes. >-< but he doesn't really know either. the best i can gather is that he likes casual clothes (he doesn't ever want to wear a tie, ever, except for formal events), and has a lot of punk influence.>
concerning kodona ouji: i really like it, but i dunno if he'd go for it (it's opulent and fussy, i can already hear his voice, "that's not my style," "that's kind of girly," "you could pull it off, but i can't pull that off", etc). i'll show him and see. ^-^;
visual kei is a good suggestion, but it's also a lot of work for somebody who's just starting out. maybe a more subdued type? the band Plastic Tree comes to mind. w< oh! he loves The GazettE, so that's something to use...
oh, and a side note: he mentioned recently that he's been trying to incorporate more colors into his clothes. it's hit and miss but most of the time he's actually really good at coordinating colors.
i'd love for you to give me some pictures and links and stuff. ^-^

If you're gravitating towards Plastic Tree style, I'd recommend Gadget Grow. It's own by Peace Now, but is more casual. Ryutaro models for them a lot. The main downside is that you have to be skinny to wear it... like Ryutaro who models for them. Buffalo Bobs is a good onii kei brand, but they have a sub-brand called Buffalo Bobs Noir that I really recommend for that more mode/mature visual look. 5351 Pour Les Hommes is nice, too. I'm really more into Japanese mens styles, despite being a curvy female *weeping forever* so I'll post various inspiration pictures, too. I've posted some of these in other threads, but this is definitely the more masculine side of what personally inspires me and draws me to j-fashion.

I can post more inspiration, if you want.

those are great. ^-^ thanks so much, i'll show them to him next time i have the chance.
note: he's not all thin like that, though. ^-^; another problem with guy's fashion that i've encountered-most well-dressed menfolk are quite skinny.
