I know some people have so trouble with the size of their pictures. I'll try to help you out with this little guide.

So when you take a picture with your camera is huge! It's a lot bigger than you will actually see when you just open it in a preview window or something on your computer. (if your computer didn't adjust it it wouldn't fit in your monitor!) ^^ The pictures of my camera is 2288x1712px.

To upload a picture of this size online is a very very bad decision. It will take much space at the server you upload it too. Not only will a too big picture be a problem for you, but also for everyone who wants to watch this picture. A big file takes longer to load.

So the best thing you can do before putting a picture online is to resize it. I belive Windows vista had a build in program where you could crop and resize and do smaller changes like reduce red eyes. If not there are lots of other programs you can use, I myself use Photoshop, but alsmost every picture or illustrating program has this function. It's very very basic. You can download free programs that can do simple editing.

Find the "resize" button, and make it smaller by writing in the new size. A good width is for example 500px. But of course that is a matter of taste, so if you want it to be bigger or smaller, do so :)

Save the file as a NEW file, so you still have the original (in case you want a different size of this picture in the future, or want to edit it or whatever).

Upload the new file to your host and share it online :)

Some sites resize the pictures atomatically when you upload them (but most of them don't) Sites like tumblr and lookbook have a standad size on the uploaded pictures, but there's a button where people can click to see the original uploaded size so it's still a very good thing to have resized it a bit before.

Sometimes you want to share the same picture on different sites, but the sites have all different layout and widths so the same size of the photo might not look good everywhere. To avoid have the same picture resized in three different sizes and three different files on your computer, my tips to you it to resize your picture to the biggest needed size. Lets say your blogger width is 600px and your MAF profile is only 400px. Resize the picture to be 600px wide.

When paste it into you MAF profile it's too big, but with a simble code, it will appear smaller in your layout.

Go to HTML mode and simply insert width="400" in the code. It looks something like this:

(the | isn't suppose to be there, it's my marker ^^', i screenshotted the code)

The picture isn't really that small, but it fits better with the layout :) And if people right click on it and open image in new tab they will se the bigger size :)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!
