This is a good idea for some people I suppose, but I myself feel that it is ridiculous to start acting different because I'm older. Sure I'm aging, but my personality's not changing. Why should someone have to change something that is so key to who they are (like clothing) just because they're an adult. Being an adult doesn't change your personality or how you like to dress, and doing it just because it's what society wants is ridiculous, if you'll excuse my bluntness. I plan on dressing how I do now for the rest of forever. Come hell or high water, I'm gonna be me.

i'm sure the main reason for this thread is for the people whose taste in clothing changed naturally....some people feel as they get older they would like to dress more mature...not just because society dictates that you should...and not everyone will want to, but for those who do, they may need a little help :)

exactly, do-chan :)

My personality changed naturally. it always does. I don't belive a single person stays the same forever. I was another person when i was 18, I was a second person when I was 22, and I'm a completely different person now when I'm 25. It has nothing to do with the number. I went from VK to gothic lolita to sweet lolita to classic/country lolita by just following my heart and I keep evolving. This thread is just ideas of what might be the next step.

This thread is so interesting~ I've wondered about this too, but then I realized that I've never worn super OTT lolita and even if I wore something somewhat OTT (lots of candy accessories or something), the *length* my dress has always been long. So, it somewhat tones it down. I think longer dresses just look more mature, in my opinion. So, I don't mind wearing a skirt with a teddy puppy border at the bottom or something, because the length tones it down. I wear a lot of vintage maxi dresses from Gunne Sax. I try to avoid buying the ones that look really old-fashioned and aim for the ones that have light prints and colors and detailing. They are really girly and you can make them more cute by adding lace vests and such.

At the same time, I've never expected myself to "settle" down and become "normal" haha, so I don't forsee my style changing too much as I age. Maybe less vivid pinks, lol! Actually, the only time my style changes is when I'm irritated. If I'm having a particularly bad week, I end up dressing more ViVi style, especially in something kind of like Hasegawa Jun would wear. It's like I have no energy to be frilly, haha~

As others mentioned, dolly kei and mori girl are great for a more mature style, because it's very flexible. If you don't like a lot of layers, just compensate with motifs and prints and you'll still be within the style.

Most of what you've posted, Zeruda, would fall under "cute culture fashion"~ I think otome style would be really interesting to you? Brands like Jane Marple, for instance, and the things you'd find in Spoon and Miink magazine. And everything under the Felissimo family (http://www.felissimo.co.jp/)

ViVi magazine has a lot of girly clothes. It's not as modest as lolita, but it's still cute! Plenty of floral and polka dot prints.

You could also see the clothes that yesstyle has to offer.

Here is a post about Jane Marple's latest (well, sort of latest by now) releases: http://www.parfaitdoll.com/2011/06/brand-spotlight-jane-marple.html

When I'm older I plan to take classic and sweet lolita pieces and grow it up a bit by taking things that are lolita "inspired". What I mean is a little less poof and more sophisticated patterns. I lean towards florals and solids with flared skirts. (more of an A-line shape)

For now I think I'll stick to fluffy skirts and patterns with pastries on them

I'd also like wearing my classic lolita dresses when I'm older, maybe without or with a semi poof petticoat ond with less accessoires. maybe with darker tights and pumps and less frills. I totally agree with the longer dresses jay I'm only about 1,5 metres so nearly any skirt and dress is very long on me. I also love Mori Style on older women. My aunt is wearing it in some way (ofcourse she don't know) and I like it a lot on her. Mori works really fine with lolita aspects in it.

I think so long as we tone down the crazy colors and keep to a good legnth, we'll be able to still find styles we adore and that suit our interests. Just because we grow more mature doesn't mean it has to be anything less than what we do now. Just my opinion though.

This picture is so cute. I think it would be rather comfortable to wear this too and not too complicated (ignore that fact that she's actually wearing lolita under this coat) but still, I like the idea of long dress and a long coat.

I looked at this photo for a while because this girl looks very familiar - I actually met her during my visit in Seoul last May.  She is a lolita designer from Korea, she was really sweet and polite.  I enjoyed hanging out with them in the university.

Like Misako, I would like to wear lolita until I get older, I enjoy dressing up for tea parties.  Right now I think if I reach like 30+ I would want to wear Innocent world clothes similar to these:

I love this. It would be perfect to wear (minus the hat :3) when I'm teaching.
