This thread is so interesting~ I've wondered about this too, but then I realized that I've never worn super OTT lolita and even if I wore something somewhat OTT (lots of candy accessories or something), the *length* my dress has always been long. So, it somewhat tones it down. I think longer dresses just look more mature, in my opinion. So, I don't mind wearing a skirt with a teddy puppy border at the bottom or something, because the length tones it down. I wear a lot of vintage maxi dresses from Gunne Sax. I try to avoid buying the ones that look really old-fashioned and aim for the ones that have light prints and colors and detailing. They are really girly and you can make them more cute by adding lace vests and such.
At the same time, I've never expected myself to "settle" down and become "normal" haha, so I don't forsee my style changing too much as I age. Maybe less vivid pinks, lol! Actually, the only time my style changes is when I'm irritated. If I'm having a particularly bad week, I end up dressing more ViVi style, especially in something kind of like Hasegawa Jun would wear. It's like I have no energy to be frilly, haha~
As others mentioned, dolly kei and mori girl are great for a more mature style, because it's very flexible. If you don't like a lot of layers, just compensate with motifs and prints and you'll still be within the style.
Most of what you've posted, Zeruda, would fall under "cute culture fashion"~ I think otome style would be really interesting to you? Brands like Jane Marple, for instance, and the things you'd find in Spoon and Miink magazine. And everything under the Felissimo family (http://www.felissimo.co.jp/)
ViVi magazine has a lot of girly clothes. It's not as modest as lolita, but it's still cute! Plenty of floral and polka dot prints.
You could also see the clothes that yesstyle has to offer.
Here is a post about Jane Marple's latest (well, sort of latest by now) releases: http://www.parfaitdoll.com/2011/06/brand-spotlight-jane-marple.html
