There's nothing wrong with critisism or tips...they can be very helpful! Especially since hers wasn't rude.
And she gave a warning asking if she may critic the outfit. So if said person DIDNT want the critisism, they could just not read it.

Fashion is critisim and other peoples opinion, just as much as it is creativity and fads.

Denial Is A Lie Over A Desire.

Because it's only opinions.

The only thing you do is to push your own personal opinion how you like other people to dress on people. She wear her outfit the way she likes it and who are you to tell her she's doing it wrong. She doesn't dress to please you, she dress to please herself. You can wear whatever you want the way you want it on your own body, why do you care so much about others? Your opinions is not worth more than peoples feelings.

Many of the girls here on the forum are young and new to asian fashion. Many of these girls are heavily critizied by their parents for even trying and they're already vunerable. Just stop. Nothing good will ever come out of this.

I am saying this becsaue it's people like you who make people afraid of posting. Just because she didn't write "please don't bash me" doesn't mean you can tell her whatever you want. It's people like you who make people decide to never even try wear a differnent fashion because they're so afraid of "doing it wrong" when if fact there is nothing wrong with dressing to express yourself and what you love.

This thread makes me cringe with all the *beep* and horridness.

I'm not a fan of all the looks in this thread, and I would like to crit some of them - but am too nice to so kudos to those who have had the guts to and been helpful rather than pure bashing - you're not being harsh most of the time.

Even if it is only opinions, they can be helpful to get someone else's view on the look *shrugs* As long as it's not straight out saying "You're CR*P GET OUT!" but a "this looks good.. but it'd look even better with..." comment I say bring it on!
This forum is for discussion and sharing, if you can't share your honest opinion and have to be all "THIS LOOKS SO KAWAII-DESU" all the time... I don't think I'd want to be around to be honest.

We have a critique thread now for those who are interesed in that. http://www.myasianfashion.com/forums/display_topic/id_5261/Constructive-Criticism/

You don't have to pretend you like it "THIS LOOKS SO KAWAII-DESU", you can just say nothing at all, just like normal people.

*breathing, controlling anger, composing a quick and logical response...*

I thought we established that this discussion was over. I don't want this brought up again. This thread is for people to post pictures of their outifts, not for critiscism (unless asked for), not for arguments, not for "discussions" about 'you're doing this wrong' and 'this is what this is not that'. Just for outfit pictures.
That is ALL.

I sincerely hope that this is the last time I have to deal with this crap. It is getting very old.

i concur...i am so tired of people pushing their beliefs of what they think is correct on other people....if you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all and please stick to the new CONSTRUCTIVE criticism thread!

No one insulted you. I said I didn't see how what you were wearing was relevant. I honestly had absolutely no idea what style you were going for. Instead of explaining yourself, YOU were the one who started slinging insults. You were the one who immediately got defensive and you're still being overly defensive and condescending.

Second of all, I agree. Your clothes aren't customized enough. It just looks like a bunch of off-the-rack stuff, which isn't what you'd see in a punk outfit. No one is shooting you down for liking Pokemon, it's the fact that you're wearing an off-the-rack Pokemon shirt as the central piece of what you call a punk outfit. Even on a low budget, you can get creative with things like safety pins, paint and patching. I'm pretty broke and I do a LOT of DIY stuff. Even having a piece like a jacket or vest you did some interesting stuff to and can just throw over what you're wearing can add a lot more of a "fuck you, this is me!" than just wearing mistmatched clothes off-the-rack.

If you do put more effort into your outfits outside of school, post those instead. On this forum, we don't know what you dress like when you go out with your friends, so if you're only showing us what you consider to be half-assed outfits, then our only exposure to your style is you as a half-assed dresser. I have to dress at least somewhat fashionable for work every day, but I also have to limit myself. Thus, those aren't the outfits I take pictures of and post. Yes, that means less pictures. With fashion, quality is better than quantity, though. Showing 1 really cool outfit is a lot better than showing 10 mediocre ones.

You can identify with a movement or style of music without dressing in the fashion. As someone who participates in the local goth scene a bit, I can say that a lot of the local goths are really not into the fashion. However, those same goths aren't posting on fashion forums about how goth their fashion is. If you're into punk for the music, that's great. Also, just being "different" in general is a central point to most alt styles, not just punk. So if you're identifying with punk just because what you're wearing is different, that's like saying all salad dressing is ranch.

To be honest, your style looks a lot just like how general nerd/geek girls look and people who are still wavering and not really in a style yet. That's fine, as long as you recognize yourself as that. This is a fashion forum, by the way. This is THE place to be judged based on what you're wearing. It's hard finding a balance of where your style fits in and still keeping it yours. I find that my style is my own, but still most recognizable as being visual kei or mode. I think having a variety of influences is great, it just takes practice to convey them in a visually pleasing way.

You want pictures in this thread? Here's some vk. Some is daily, some is clubwear since, like I said, I do sometimes go goth clubbing. Even though you're not going for vk, I'm still going to go over some key points of establishing your style. (1) Get inspired and SHOW your inspiration in what you're wearing. If you keep seeing people in the fashion you like rocking Doc Martens, get some. If you see a lot of people wearing animal print and like it, get some. That's not called being a sheep, it's just simply following your inspiration. (2)I do NOT recommend copying someone's look head-to-toe or copying something that is their signature "thing" to do. You still want to be you, just a fashionable version of you. (3) Still treat what you're doing as fashion. You want to innovate fashion, not depart from it. At least, not if you're wanting to post on a fashion forum. Being different is great, but basic things like fit, silhouette, and coordination are still relevant if you want to call your clothing "fashion". You don't have to sacrifice looking good for looking different.

uhm... i know this discussion probably was long time ago i didnt pay enough attention sorry >.< however, i think your style is adorable and i agree with you in so many points.. im sorry but i dont see any punk or whatever in these photos of kalachar (do i remember the name right?).. however, i do not want to insult anyone, its just what i think ._. maybe i just dont know enough about punk =D
