Is it ok to wear/use things your ex gave you after you broke up?

I always thought it was OK, untill this one time my friend came to work without the necklace he usually wore, so I asked him why he wasn't wearing it and he told me that he just broke up with his Girlfriend, who gave him the necklace, so he threw it away.

I still think it's fine to wear things your ex gave you, because my last boyfriend gave me some pretty nice presents XD I have this awesome link pocket watch that he gave me, that I'm not giving up, but what do you think?

it should be fine...they were gifts so the person wanted you to use them...i think it comes down to personal preference

I guess it depends on if the person feels comfortable. For me, I still would. Because it was a gift and I have no obligation to return it. And I'm not going to toss something that's perfectly useable either, especially if I like it.

I think it depends on what sort of meaning you place on it.. I have an eevee necklace my ex gave me that I still wear all the time. 

Of course I can understand why people would stop using those things. If my current boyfriend knew my necklace was from my ex he would be so so grumpy. My bf would say I want to remember my ex all the time . 

I never return things to exs either haha XD

I still carry around a purse that my ex gave me (its like on of the only things he ever got me), it doesn't bother me and my hubby doesn't care eaither.

oh! by the way i still have alot of crap from my ex (or soon to be ex husband) and i dont plan on getting rid of any of it....esp not my pc haha

I would keep them... If it's useful, and stuff.

I still have things that my exs gave me like cute little notes and letters that they wrote to me..i dont know why i actually have them but everytime i read something like that it makes me smile xD

Honestly I think it depends on the person that gave it to you. If the break up was painful the items they gave you might hold some attachment to them. Which is why people get rid of stuff.

However I think it's more than ok, I still use things my exs gave me all the time, so I really think it just depends on the situation.

I had a necklace saying "I love you" can't really carry that one, since my current bf would start to wonder, lol. He's insanely jealous, haha.

So yeah, i guess it depends what it is and how you valueble it. I wouldn't keep anything that reminded me of our love, however items without any meaning is just fine. I don't think I have anything left anyway, I don't like to be reminded :P But on the other hand i would never get rid of something i like "just becasue". :)

I still have all the letters, pictures and emails that my ex use to write to me or sent to me, the journal he gave me for Christmas, and the wallet. I also have this heart necklace that he brought for me when he was on a school trip with his school down in the States. I usually wear it whenever I go seeing him, but now it is in a box and it hasn't been wore for quite a while. I am trying to get the hang of maybe trying to rewearing the necklace again, but only when the time is right for me. No matter how many times I look at the necklace, it always seems that the necklace always shines brightly and I really don't know why it does that. I even have his two uniform shirts that are still in the closet. I wore them from time to time during the winter time because they are really warm and comfortable to wear in the winter. I would get rid of them, but I would keep them until I find another man before throwing anything out
