Hello! Call me miyu,I'm not good with planning or anything. But I wasn't to sure where to post this topic,i think this is a right place.Well I was wondering about the lolita meet-up in NYC.I have heard of a groups already, but are there more than one group of lolitas in NYC? I don't know ANYONE that loves lolita like I do that lives here.I've seen a few lolitas but the ones I saw weren't really lolita.I don't know how to describe it.I thought lolita were suppose to be sweet, cute nice, etc. The ones I saw were loud, kinda out there, and not your typical lolita. But they dressed the part.I'm not one to talk about anyone, but i found their behavior kind of strange for lolitas.Though every person is their own person.I am not sure there is a behavior manual to lolita because i thought it was pretty obvious how a girl should ack in a dress! 0_0.So yes,I'm wondering if there are any lolitas that live or can make it to nyc.OR if there are any groups or meet-ups that are already here that I may be apart of.^_^Thank you!

Let's make an NYC meetup! =O Yay! hehe...

Yes, they...some lolitas, okay, many lolitas, in New York that is, tend to be loud. They don't mind their manners in being vocal since they are already standing out in their clothing, and they show that they don't care what you think through their clothes (and loud behavior). Aii. ^^;;;'

Awesome idea! I can totally help.I love the idea, but we will also need lolitas with experience. This will take time, plus we need to find more girls in the area that would be willing to help start this. Are you going to the anime festival in NYC?

i'm not sure yet if i'm going to go to the anime festival. we have some lolitas and other japanese fashion-wearing girls on this site who live in/by New York and so could hopefully come. to start off, we should spread the word on this site. MAF gals are wonderful and kind (and make reserved, eloquent lolitas, hehe). i think i know a few girls who would like to meet up too. the meetup can be at a cafe or in chinatown, or even at kinokuniya bookstore (where the official NYC lolita day event took place, and which has a cafe upstairs anyway). give me ideas, particularly for the time (day) of the event, if you have any in mind (during which most will be free, like on the weekend. Saturdays are probably best--for me anyway with school starting in less than a week lol). Thanks, awesome! v^_^v

Well I hope you can make it! Yes Kinkuniya would most likely be the best place because it doesn't smell like fish 24/7.I love china town but i cant always take that smell.ROFL.Also they have lolita books there we can read up on and learn from.It would most DEFINITE, be on a saturday/weekend area. The timing should be from around. 9:00-2:30 is prefreable,if no ones avialbe in the morning 12 to 5 something.I dont feel lolita should be out late at night so these day time hours should be good. And yes we need to start with this site first. We need to come up with what our meet-ups will consist of as well.

Yes, I hope I will be able to make it too, of course! I agree lol, Kinokuniya is a great place for it. Those times are good as well. What would you like the meet-up to consist of? Your last comment to me has cute ideas. *Hides face* I've never had Japanese food before (other than store-packaged sweets). I'd like to try it though. I'm not good at sewing, but I do make some little lolita-esque accessories. I don't bake either, but I'd love to. I'd like to bake, a lot... :/ Well, most lolita meetups are at tea and cupcake cafes hehe. It's usually like a tea party kind of thing. ^_^

Thanks for the links in your comment too, but I know both sites already sis. ;) I'm addicted to this stuff; I've seen at least a hundred different sites that describe different types of lolita in their own ways lol. It's apart of my pastime, which is just looking at Japanese fashion pretty much. x__X;; I love many types of lolita. What is your favorite lolita style, and you will be dressing lolita to the meetup too--what kind? Gyarurori (Gal Lolita)? ("A new fusion of the gal and lolita styles. Example from Avant Gauche for those who are confused about this style.")

For myself since you already pull it off perfectly (but my favorites/bookmarked sites are such a mess!): http://www.freewebs.com/rococolulu/make.htm - Is this a good guide? Should I try it from this?

I look at tons of gyaru (and some lolita) magazine scans via net. Which is your favorite magazine (what should I purchase for my first one) ;) ?? Thanks Miyu sis!

I couldn't agree more.I just typed a whole thing to you but once i pressed your "example" link all the text disappeared now i grow weary of typing to im going to list things ok?

♥:Bento Box Making:Fun activity for your fun side! And cooking. The activities consist of "playing with your food" excerises.Art on your food in cute little boxes. This will also help with making delicious asian dishies.

♥:Baking:Cookies, cupcakes, pies etc. What ever your heart tells you to make. They would be lolita shaped, heart shaped, anything creative you can think of! Get crafty, and get yummy.

♥:Karaoke Night: singing to our favorite songs dressed up in cute lolita outfits.Taking picture, laughing and having a good time. This can take place in China town or where there is a good karaoke spot.

♥:Loli Shopping: Shopping should be fun,we can stock up on cute accessories in China Town "Elithabeth center",42 street, anywhere we know good prices are calling with cute stuff.

♥:http://community.livejournal.com/egl/3509599.html This site states some good lolita stuff.Going to event's together and planning "A lolita's Day out". would be really fun.We can brain storm ideas.

I love gyaru, but i adore sweet lolita.I need to get my outfit togehter.I believe we should help each other with sewing! going to fabric stores and making cute accessories is a good idea.I'm good with making bows, headbands, and crocheting."begginer at crocheting".Gyarurori  is cute, but I'm not to sure yet.>__<.

I can't make it because I am in Tokyo LOL but I understand what you mean about 'not really lolita.'   THere are those bad apples who dress lolita but are soooooo mean and have such bad attitudes. I found quite a few of these girl on the EGL list.

I think as a loli girl, you have to act as sweet and cute as you dress!

That is what we mostly do in Japan : )

Maybe one day I will be able to go to a meet up with all you sweet lolita girl there : )
I LOVE MY BUNNIES!!

Aw! Thank you so much.Yes there are so many "not really lolita" girls here. They "look" loli but aren't.I would be happy if you joined us one day! You seem so experienced though, so I would love if you were apart of it regardless of the distance. Here in NYC,or america period girls have misunderstood a lot about asian fashion.I've seen hatred with the gyaru community in america and the lolita community. They tear one antoher down instead of helping each other.I dont want the japanese community to look at us in a bad way because of how many girls are giving lolita a bad name.So my goal is to create a community where lolitas are actually "lolitas" doing things girls love to do.But so far it's only sweetwarrior and I.So getting more girls is our goal,I kinda need help with that haha.
