I decided to make this topic because tonight i was playing an online game called world of warcraft and i got so much abuse from someone for no reason that i actually complained to the game maker, Blizzard.

I was in a dungeon (you complete quests in a group of people and defeat bosses) and there was a boy/girl in the group that was utterly rude to me.  I died because the healer did not heal me and he asked everyone if he could kick me (kicking means you can vote to remove someone from the group and therefore the dungeon), i then asked him what i had done and he said "i dont want a noob in the group."  Then i started to brass my case saying that i wasn't a noob and that i'd been playing the game since it started and because i died doesnt make me one snd he started giving me abuse and calling me names and then i was told to either leave the group or get kicked so i was forced to leave. 

I then sent a complaint to blizzard telling them that this was not the first time that this has happened to me in the game. 

has any of you guys ever experienced online abuse?  And if so how did you deal with it?

I played WOW before and ran into the same problem I just quit the game though. It's a shame that even now we cant escape the harsh reality even if it's in a game.

Yea wow is an intense game

My brother played it and i would play it once or twice in his account but i never ran into problems like that, yet I'm not surprised WoW can get really intense as times goes on. You notice more people playing each day and they can get pretty rude if the slightest mistake happens.

I don't want to sound like a jerk or anything, or make light of a situation that you were harassed in...But it is an MMORPG.

With online games kids whine and find reasons to start fights over nothing, they have very low patience, and they really shouldn't be taken seriously. Being a long time online gamer myself, when faced with a situation like that I either,

a.) Ignore them.

b.) Calmly ask them why there being idiotic.

c.) Laugh at them for being stupid.

d.) Try to understand there reasoning.

e.) Say the following words. Repeatedly, "LULZ, U MAD. Y U SO MAD???" <---Works like a charm. :,D♥

I just don't take them seriously. They get butthurt easily if you push the right buttons right back at them.

You always get people like that in MMORPG. Sometimes people take it a little too seriously. I sort of want to scream at them "It is just a game!". As annoying as it is, I don't think the players have done anything against the rules so complaining wont do much. Try your best to ignore those players and try to find some which are hopefully more accepting. It's not as if you did anything wrong. Some people are just jerks.

As for myself, I have had a few lolita secrets made about me and I think I appeared on 4chan once. Luckily it was just small stuff and nothing that I found upsetting. I didn't even bother responding. I just chose to ignore it. The thing is, anything that you put on the internet can make you a target and that is something you have to accept before you post anything anywhere.

yeah i agree with everything you have all said, i've been playing warcraft since it first came out and only started coming across these people recently. 

it bothers me more than it should but most of the time you have to put up these people because you dont get a choice as to who goes into your group so it really a hit and miss situation.

I did get a response from Blizzard about 10 minutes after i filed the complaint and an MD spoke to me (which is a very rare ocurrance), she said she would investigate his behaviour and blah blah.  But i think that Blizzard have to seriously do something about this because new players will not want to play because of these people and it will defonately take a large chunk of there profits if new players have experienced this abuse before they've even finished the trial.

There are a lot of trolls on online games like that. Usually it's best to ignore them. They make themselves look like morons, they don't even realize it.

I totally agree with you there, there was a guy today and he was giving other players abuse and he kicked someone for no reason.  at the end he got kicked because everyone got sick of his crap.

I been through that I played a MMORPG Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine and same issue and I played after the beta. I also played Fiesta and this guy started to call me a 'Grandma'  and a slut because I killed his monster, when I apologized politely and I didn't fight back. He then was all like 'I got higher lvls so you shut up you noob' and started harassing me AGAIN! just because I was still there finishing a quest. I hate rude people.

Ugh thats horrible!  I'm sorry you had to go through that.  There is alot of rude people on online games.  It's ridiculous.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't play WoW, but I do play Runescape and the same thing happens there all the time. My advice is to not play at night because I find that that's when all of the thrity-somethings who live in mommy's basement get online, and they're the worst about noob-trashing and just plain rudeness. Also, I've found that it usually helps if you're a girl character. I have found some really sweet guys online who are willing to stand up for me when those riduiculous haters decide to strike. Typically I'll just ignore rude people online, but it's nice to know that they are people who are nice. Don't give up on the onlibe gaming world though. Not everyone on there is a jerk. ;)
