Not can the kingdoms in luminous sky

Compareth to thee, my hope and my love

And all their good warmth still leave my heart dry

And make meaningless the treasure above

Nor the soft crooning of the cherubim

Nor the promises of eternity,

Ever shall take your sweetened light to dim

And ever I would returneth to thee

Thy heart is my heaven brighter than all

With not thy true love heaven doth not gleam,

Myriads of stars to thy beauty fall

Paradise is not felt as it shall seem

As a blind man with gold ne’er he can see
