Hello my Children. I was curious, so I thought I would ask some questions. Since our fashions are generally considered the "wierdest", I wanted to know your opinions about our fashions (Punk, Goth, VK). Why do you dress like this? What do you love about your fashion(s)? What kind of responses do you get from people? Are they good? Are they bad? How do you handle negative comments about your clothes? Do you have any suggestions on HOW to handle negative comments? Anything else you wanna talk about? Let the conversations... Begin!!

Okay, I'll start out. Why do I dress Punk? I dress Punk because the clothes and the lifestyle just seem to speak to me. I love that I'm one of only two Punks at my high school and that I'm the only person I see every day who dresses like I do. I love that I don't look like every other uninspired people-follower at my school. Punk makes me embrace myself as a person.
But the responses that I get... Well, except from my close circle of friends the responses aren't good. People don't seem to like the fact that I don't feel that I have to do what they do. They don't like that I don't care if I'm "cool" or not. I get a lot of "Don't you know it's not Halloween?" and "Freak" in the halls and death glares from middle-aged women with children, but after while it's pretty easy to ignore. (Kinda. I try.)
I do my best to try and ignore the losers who mess with me, but as illustrated by the fact that I just refered to them as "losers", I do have a hard time being nice. If someone glares at me from across the room I'll return it until they turn away. If someone makes a smart-ass remark, I'll give 'em my best Johnny Rotten sneer and give 'em the finger or, if I'm feeling creative, drop a nice comeback at 'em. One of the most effective ways is to just continue on your way and not give them the satisfaction of knowing that they're being an ass, but this is really hard to do, especially if you have an anger problem like me.
Um, yeah, I think that's about all I have to say. You guys should totally throw your opinions my way.

I dress visual because it's aesthetically pleasing and a gender-neutral happy medium for me, being an agendered person. I don't get reactions. Once you're out of high school, other people don't actually care what you look like; or at very least with age have learned the tact to keep it to themselves. If a kid yells something at me in public, whatever. They'll hopefully grow up. If an adult does it, then I think that says a lot more about them than it does about me.

I love to dress in Goth/Punk because I like how it makes me feel and look more tough/confident than I actually am on the inside. I like Goth because it is really dark like I am and how depending on which way you want to go, you could be punk, sexy, Victorian, elegant, or whatever because there are so many ways that you could do Goth. It isn't like the 'normal and popular' preppy clothes that are either boring or way too slutty. Yes, I have gotten good comments, even from regular people. When I was in high school, I got quite a bit of good compliments from my other classmates/teachers in one class and from the librarians when I was voluntering in the school library, along with those from people that do dress like me at concerts and at the club. I have gotten more compliments on my Goth wear than I have ever gotten wearing my normal clothes. Though I have never heard anyone say anything bad about my Goth wear, I have gotten bad and glaring stares and looks both in high school and out of school. I just ignore them and keep walking, because I know that I can handle it and unlike those cowards who talk behind my back, I know what I like and I will not let anyone tell me what I can or can't wear.

I completely agree with what you said. I do find that punk/goth makes me feel much more confident and/or frightening, too. In fact, there are a lot of people at my school who are actually afraid of me just because of the way I dress (they don't know me personally at all). My friends who know me well laugh at those people because they know what a marshmellow I am! XD And I love your last line, that was very well said! Keep kicking ass, my friend! :D
