My story: When I was about 11 and first started using the internet, I pretty much just watched nothing but anime. I saw in one I was watching ( Le Petite Cossete ) That the style she was wearing was considered Gothic Lolita. I didn't really get into the style until around the age of 14. I have a Japanese friend who also helped me get into the style, and right now my closet is nothing but Lolita dresses, tops, skirts, Etc. :3

When I was in 7th grade I was introduced to Malice Mizer. When I watched their video's I thought, "Oh, thats a cute costume she's wearing." and didn't think much of it then. But in my 8th grade year alot of drama happened and I was, lets say rejected by most of my friends. I was made fun of because I listened to DIR EN GREY and Malice Mizer (I knew by then Mana was male(LOL)), made fun of because I had short hair, and dressed in darker colors. Because of that I pulled into myself and really didn't talk to many people during that 2 month period. I was so ignored at school that I had to change teams and get a whole new set of classes because I was so depressed it was affecting my grades. When I found out that Mana wore Lolita I decided to look more into the Lolita fashion. When I saw all the cute clothing and eveything, it made me happy looking at them. I thought that if I tried hard enough, I could wear stuff like that and I would be so cute nobody would dare look down on me. I didn't really fall in love with lolita till I wore my fisrt lolita. When I looked at myself in the mirror I knew that this was who I was destined to be.

Listening isn't a skill that comes naturally. It's learned. Hearing on the other hand is natural. You can hear someone, but are you really listening to them?

I can't actually remember the first time I saw lolita. I remember it was at an anime con, I go to so many sometimes it's hard to keep track. I was aware of it for awhile but didn't pay it much mind, I was devoted to anime/manga itself and cosplay. Around early 2010 I developed a deep love for it and took a lot of time researching it. I was a bit put off by all the rules and didn't attempt an outfit at all. I just decided to be an admirer of it. I was even thinking this just a month before buying my first dress.
Then I discovered Fanplusfriend and Bodyline. Other than the rules, the prices put me off. Finding these off-brand stores where the quality wasn't complete crap was great. Eventually I ordered my first dress from Bodyline and a pair of shoes. My parents actually paid for it which surprised me. They knew of lolita because of the pictures I showed them and they liked it. I think part of it is because some of my cosplays are revealing and they like how lolita is modest.
Since then I've been hooked. Even during the days between placing my order and its arrival I spend hours on end looking at lolita. It didn't take me long to order two blouses and a jumperskirt. (I got my first dress in early June this year). I'm also currently working on a simple rectangle skirt.

I can't remember exactly when I heard about lolita the very first time. I remember reading an article about lolita from a teen magazine and I also remember seeing an interview of some lolita from tv (it was a tv programme for teenagers), it was about five years ago. I got interested about lolita, I thought it was so pretty style though my mother said that lolita is so weird and how anyone can wear it publically when we watched that programme where was this lolita interview. I searched information about lolita from internet, I found lolita handbook and studied it thoroughly. But at that time (which was around 2006 or so) I didn't think that I could start wearing lolita myself, I thought that only other girls with beautiful brand clothes could wear it and I just admired the style from my computer. Then I "forgot" about lolita for some years. A year ago, in late summer/early autumn of 2010 I somehow got interested in lolita again and registered myself in a local lolita forum and began thinking that I want to start dressing in lolita clothes myself too. I bought my first lolita items from the forum's "community sales" in November 2010, a headbow and a cutsew by Innocent World. Of course I didn't have any lolita skirts or dresses to cordinate them with, I just wanted to buy them and I felt so happy that I finally owned something "lolita". Then I have bought a couple of dresses and a skirt from that forum. I have worn/tried lolita only a couple of times, I still don't have some basic lolita items like blouses or proper lolita shoes. So I'm in a very beginning of my lolita journey.
