So last night, I finished what I would consider the best book I've ever read in my life so far...I'm not exaggerating. I haven't read a book that has been so well-thought out and put together.
It was the last book of a 5 novel series- The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning.
I have been following this series for the past 4 years since I picked up a random excerpt of her 2nd book in a Borders one day and decided that I liked what was in it. Best random event of my life. Seriously.
The plot is woven around a woman named MacKayla (Mac) Lane, whose sister Alina died while she was attending college in Ireland. The Irish police have absolutely no leads and no idea of who or what could have brutally murdered her sister but Mac had recieved a mysterious voicemail from her sister just 5 hours before her death. Mac goes to Ireland in search for her sister's killer, her heart filled with rage and a desire for revenge. There, she finds that her world is not what it seems and that she is not the person she thought she was. She ends up fighting crazy monsteres, chasing a cursed, killer book [yes, it's a book], and of course, encounters a whole bunch of sexy men along the way.
But I don't want to give too much away! XD
Like I said, the story is a puzzle that pieces together in the most intricate way and each book left me wanting, craving, needing the next one. But now, they're all done so you don't have to wait a whole year between books like I did (Q.Q it was miserable...). I'm utterly helpless now that the series is over but it was so resolute and well-ended that I can't be too sad about it.
It's in the fictional (but you kind of wish it wasn't), fantasy, violent-ish action and adventure, mature romance between man/being and woman/being genre and there's an insinuated rape scene, however none of it is too graphic in my opinion. Definitely age 15+ book (that's what age I started reading it, anyways), just so you're forewarned.
So! If you're interested and you've got a few dozen hours to spare, check this series out!
