So if you are American, you've probably heard of this show called soul train. And it's a show were kids came on and danced to the latest music and it was a POPULAR show. It went off the air in 2006 but started in the 60s and if you've ever seen soul train you know that they dressed a bit outrageaous some of them. So for people who are not American or are American and have never seen the show, here you go. What do you think? Im not really calling this Harajuku, but think of what time frame this was in, it was a big deal to dress like some of these guys are dressing

I would say that American's major and most controversial music and fashion era was the 1950's. Think about it, it was the birth of rock'n roll, Elvis, leather jackets and slicked back hair. Girls were showing more leg and shoulders, wearing colorful lipstick and teasing up their hair...it was unheard of.

It only got more extreme from there - the 60's brought bell bottoms and hippies, free love and drugs. After that you had the 80's with pop music, side ponytails, spandex and neon colors....

Just like fashion in Harajuku, American's fashion has also evolved.

I think every place in the world has had an era where their fashion was crazy in some way.

In London we have Camden where all the cool kids hang out.

basically the same as harajuku...but less info about it on the web. It's all very underground which makes you really feel like you've found an amazing place when you go there ^^

It's not like you can find a full page of camden street snaps

But I found some =]
