Well, if you ever want to read a classic, I definately recommend Pride & Prejudice. I've read it 3 times and I love it everytime. The Sherlock Holmes collections are really great as well.

Other than classics, I mostly just read sci-fi/fantasy. I just finished the Hunger Games series; it's quite popular. I really liked it - I'm positive they'll turn it into a movie series someday (I just hope they don't ruin it!).
Another book I really like is Graceling by Kristin Cashore (not sure I spelled her name right). It's followed by a book called Fire that's actually a sort of prequel. They're both fantastic books - very well written.
If you want explinations of either series, just ask ^_^

flipped by wendelin van draanen

clockwork by philip pullman

the yellow wallpaper by charlotte perkins gilman

Are some books I suggest. Flipped is a coming of age romance that I read in my younger years. Clockwork is also from my childhood of which I absolutely adored, it is dark and morbid and has a wonderful story plot. And... the Yellow wallpaper is one of my more older age reads. It is a very old book done back in the late 1800s I believe.  at the very turn to the 19th century. It is about a women who goes insane. It is very good. <3

There might be a few more I could suggest, right now I can't think of any though...

Oh gosh. My favorite books are all so full of drugs and other pleasures, if you catch my drift.

If you're still interested after that statement, then I suggest...

Running With Scissors - Augusten Burroughs

Dry - Augusten Burroughs

Magical Thinking - Augusten Burroughs

(As if you couldn't tell who my favorite author ever is... ^-^)

Candy - MianMian

Some not-so-druggy books:

Julie & Julia - Julie Powell

The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger

The Housekeeper and the Professor - Yoko Ogawa (Quite possibly the most interesting book I've ever read... There's so much math to it, yet the storyline is so intricate and beautiful that I cried.)

Kamikaze Girls - Novala Takemoto (A classic for us lolitas~)

Some manga series I love:

After School Nightmare - Setona Mizushiro

Nana - Ai Yazawa

Aishiteruze Baby! - Yoko Maki

Those are my overall top picks. I hope you enjoy them if you do read them. ^-^

whats graceling about

I'll do this without any spoilers as best as I can!
In Graceling, there are people who are called Gracelings. They are "Graced" with special abilities, ranging from incredible fighting skills to holding your breath for a long time (poor example maybe but it gets the point across lol), and their eyes are 2 different colors. Katsa is a girl Graced with killing. This being the case, she's pretty much the king's thug slave...if that makes sense. She meets a guy named Po, who's also a Graceling (he's a fighter).
The jist of the story is about Katsa breaking free from her "slavery" , physically and mentally, and about her and Po discovering a horrible secret about another kingdom and trying to stop it.
To be blunt, it's got a sex scene, though it's generally vague. Aside from that part, I loved the book.

I don't know of any particularly good book. But I do have favorite authors~!

DJ MacHale - wrote the Pendragon Series

Sherrilyn Kenyon - Writes really great romance/action/drama/fantasy novels

Christine Feehan - Writes really good romance/action/drama/fantasy novels as well.

I have a few others, but can't seem to remember their names. I haven't read anything as of late, besides Sherrilynn's Dark Hunter Series. Lol.
