What kinds of comments do you get when you wear YOUR fashion?

What fashion defines you? What kinds of comments do you get when you wear it? For example, when I wear lolita, I get some mixed comments. I get some people who love it, like the lady who lives across the way from me says things like "I'm so glad someone young like you still dresses like a lady" and "I love how unique your fashion is! It's sweet and classy, fun and bouncy!". On the other hand, I get people who make fun of me, give me disapproving stares, or tell me it's cute, but when they find I'm not in a play or something, give me a dirty look. So, what kinds of feedback do you receive?

I have only worn lolita fashion out in public once (cons don't count). One girl in line said she loved my dress and a waitress said she liked how I was dresses. I was a little embarrassed about that last one since it looks like I was dressed up to go to the outback steakhouse.
But it's not the comments, it's the stares. Those bad stares really are the worst.

I usually dress in some variation of sweet lolita.  I actually tend to get a lot of compliments.  Some people ask me if I'm in plays and stuff and seem to feel more awkward than anything when I tell them I'm not.
There was one instance in particular, however, when this girl was harassing me on Facebook.  She'd update her status saying things like I was fake, and I should dress like real life and not a fairytale.  The thing that mainly bothered me was that it was creepy-- I didn't even know who she was.  (and it's not like I'd done anything to bother her or her friends.  I'm probably the least confrontational person I know X'D)  She was reported to the school and it got sorted out, (apparently she'd done stuff like that to people before) but that's the only big problem I've had with rudeness over my fashion.
I don't think the real reason for it was even the way I dress... She was just a bully

That's exactly how I see it!  If she wants to live her life in the boring "real world" she can.  That doesn't mean everyone has to change their mindsets to be miserable like her.  :<

Well its either i wear boyish styles so i get comments from girl saying "OMG you're a girl? I think you're pretty hot~!" and "Oh wow~! I can't believe you're a girl! I though you were a boy with long hair... you look pretty cool~!" lol sometimes i also get those odd stares or disapproving looks but im ok with it. Then when it comes to Japanese street fashion, i just wear whatever i like... like a long but snug fitting top with shorts and knee length socks and converse or boots, i get comments like "I like your shirt/shoes/socks/hair/hat~!" or "Where did you get this (insert something)? I like it~!" or "Omg you look cute/gorgeous in this~!" keke... like the beginning... i ignore the disapproving looks and comments~ :3

"Even though you are near, the fact that I can't reach you is almost heartbreaking... though it seems that i
can't quite meet you, you are there by my side more than anyone else..."

Its the stears the hurt me the worst although me and my firend (whos victorian gothic) have made a game out of it

Okay then the person stares you stare back and hold it you countinue to do this until they look away/pull a odd smile or get completly creeped out lol

I get the few good complement "Oh... its so good to see people dress like this and not try to be someone there not" "Naw... you look so cute " "I love your (insert item of clothing)"

But i always get asked "What play are you in ?" / "Are you part of a play ?" and thats when its hard to say something because they ALWAYS give disaproving looks

But just shrugg it off 'Were not put on this world to please everyone and the people who dont accept who we are can just ignore us'

Im a my own worst enemy because iam the only one that can truly hurt myself.. Are you suffering yet? If you wanna ask anything about anything i have written on a blog or post please message me :)

A majority of people just stare at me or take my photo without really making many comments. The one I probably hear the most is that I look like somebody from Alice in Wonderland. In general the comments and reactions I get are positive but one woman thought I was a sex worker

I think going out in public in your fashion is a very huge step to take. Conventions are a bit easier. It takes a lot of confidence but I am finding that the more you go out, the easier it gets. And I doubt I will see most of these strangers again so I am not really bothered if they think I look odd.

Wow, most of you have gotten a lot of really good comments and not all that many bad ones. Mine's the other way around! Except for my friends, no one ever seems to say anything nice about what I wear. It's usually the standard "Don't you know it's not Halloween?" and "Wow, what a freak!". I mean, I don't wear Lolita or anything pretty like that, so I'm not gonna get compliments from old ladies or anything! ^^;

I'm sorry to hear there are any negative comments at all, to be honest, though I know it's human nature to be afraid and not accept those they don't understand or deem 'normal', like gay marriage and other larger issues like that. Though it's definitely something easier said than done, I really feel the only comments that should matter, especially when it comes to your fashion, should be the positive ones :3 which is why I've started to not respond to my mother's negative comments about when I wear lolita ^_^ like, this last Sunday, I was wearing an outfit since I has just come from a tea party. A lovely cupcake dress I bought from an up-and-coming lolita designer, a good friend of mine, Song. My mom's first words when she saw me at the door was "uugh! o_o". Then, as we were leaving, she said I looked like Lady Gaga O_o blegh. Anywho, either way, I felt wonderful and beautiful and it didn't compare to the amount of compliments I got when I wore it ^_^ I even got a prize, a cute little cookie necklace, for best dressed at the tea party :3 hehe~
