I've gotten called Beetlejuice alot when I wear striped stockings, I usually just laugh it off because of how uncreative the insult was. 

When anyone makes a crack about it being Halloween I tell them "I don't celebrate Halloween" (which is mostly true) and the confused looks insue. 

The one time some one tried to insult me at chapel my chaplain put them in their place real fast, because I was his favorite techie and they were just some lazy @$$ lay person. 

Getting insulted is (unfortunately) part of wearing odd-usual styles! I've been asked if my style was for Halloween, a dare, theatrical performance or a terrible sorority pledge! Just laugh it off! If you enjoy it and have the confidence to wear it proudly people will bother you less. 

Just have fun with it and love what your wearing! <3

My reply I made a while ago doesn't apply anymore, because I stopped dressing punk and vk, and switched to sweeter styles. Because I'm just nicer than that, and I really don't dress up to keep people away.

Strangely, everyone gets why I wear wigs, it seems. I don't get very many weird looks, like I thought it would. Maybe since some pop stars are publicizing it. But I'm not caught in the Teenage Fashion Trap, because I don't dress anything like Lady Gaga.

A lot of times, people are just curious about why you like to wear that, or why your hair changed color. If you give them a chance to say what they have to say, without getting upset, they're actually not opposing you, they might even think you look cute.

With people I see regularly, at school, I try to show them that I'm nice, and semi-normal, by making little gestures like holding the door, picking things up, and complimenting them. It works really well, because people are mostly nice to me. And if they want to know why you want to wear a lacy, poofy dress, or a petticoat and cat ears, just say,

"Because it's cute. I love waking up in the morning and dressing up."

I really hate it, and find it particularly upsetting when I'm shopping around for lolita clothes or wigs and they're being advertised as:

"Perfect for halloween!"

I usually stop shopping at that point.

From day 1 of my secondary school life (age 11+) I was bullied like crazy by everyone. Not so much for how I dressed, because I wore punk clothes and emo was soon in fashion, but mostly for my interest in 'cartoons' and Japan. Nothing I said or did made a difference, I tried to insult them back but it usually backfired horribly.

Starting University this weekend, hopefully it won't be a repeat of my first day at school!

kanonxbou47, I love your method of just being super nice and polite to them! If I have any trouble again, I'll definitely be trying that!

its realy sad how the most people are treting us couse of our clothes :< i´ve never goten so many bad coments couse i dont own so much. i reamenber in like 8th grade i wore my first asian clothing to school and it was a goth like shirt. the most of the people was staring and wispering and one girl was luaghing realy hard at me -.- and i was alone then. i was litle nerves at furst but it went away, i was´t really nerves or shy i was really mad insted XD but i ingnored them :P i cant realy understand why people are luaghing at it, its just clothes so if i want to weare difrent clothings frome the rest of the identical people it would´t be a big deal.

my other time i wore a pikatchu-lolita cosplay i´ve made at a con with a fraind, on the way to the con some were staring. i remenber an old lady (80 years XD) did even stop talking and stared at us, i just smiled politly at her when i walked bye, but it is realy hard from luathing XD and the rest of the con i only got posetive things. everybody was like huging me and took pictures and said how cute i was X3 on the last day i got 47 hugs, and i got to hug sasori and vic mignogna!!!! :DDDDDDD now i go in an art shcool so now i know some others that are manga fans to :D i have 2 frainds and we are planing on cosplaying as death note charectures like misa, light(me) and L/BB XD
couse we goes in art the most people aktualy expekts us to be weird (maby we are but still) i used to be shy but im defnenty not shy now. well our class kind of dislikes us and think were weirdos :(
anyway~ i´ve never got any bad coments but if sombody called me "cinderela" or "alice" i would take it as a compliment and be happy XD and if i got the halloween coment i would say something smart back and make them go wtf? O.O XD i will not let them make me angry so i will reply whith something polite, or just make them confused. in that way they will get angry insted of me (HA) XD>
