I collect poceilin dolls. But never pay full price because I buy them from thrift stores. If you check out goodwill and local thrift stores, I'm sure you can find the barbies you want:D

I am 22 and I love dolls. I may be a collector one day. Right now I do not consider myself a collector. I love all kinds of dolls. Vintage, BJD (vinyl, resin, etc.), baby, fashion, and barbie-esque dolls. Sometimes I worry the same--if it's strange because of my age, but I don't care what others think. I do not think it is strange. A married-with-children plus-size model who lives in my little city borough was in the newspaper for her vast doll collection. It made me feel better about my own love for dolls--especially the atypical kind. I love BJDs but I also like some baby dolls, which is what worries me most. ^^; The model collector has mostly baby dolls in her collection, though. I think I am normal. And it is normal to like dolls or collect them, of any kind. It is not strange, at any age. It is a lovely hobby. I hope you enjoy it if you chose to pursue it. That is what matters most--that it makes YOU happy. :)!

True! I've seen some mint condition, in-the-box vintage Barbie dolls and other dolls, generally porcelain like she said, at thrift stores..and they were rather cheap! I was surprised to see some Barbies I used to have almost twenty years ago in like-new boxes and condition at a thrift store quite recently. Go for it! Good luck! ^_^v

Here in Ohio we have the Toledo toy show which my family and I go to since my dad has a hobby of collecting models. It's held twice a year once in the spring and once in the fall. When I went there last fall I noticed some vintage dolls, some in good condition, but I'm unsure if I should go vintage as I'm more into dolls that dress like teenagers today dress. of course I could always try and sew modern looking clothes for the vintage dolls but they probably wouldn't go with their vintage hair styles. There were also some more modern dolls from the late 1990s but they were n'sync and sabrina the teenage witch dolls which I'm not interested in.

Can't BJD's be expensive though. I think I've seen them online for hundreds even thousands of dollars.

This is true.
I think it is possible to find a decent one for under $170 though. Erm, that's still pretty expensive, but..yeah x_x;; Try The Junky Spot (http://junkyspot.com/obindex.html)...good deals and super fast, effective shipping. I used it for my tiny doll and it was great. :3

I have a very small and random collection of dolls. I have three Monster High dolls, one vintage reproduction Barbie doll, one Lalaloopsy doll, and two dolls who are from a brand called Juku. I plan on buying more Monster High and Lalaloopsy dolls in the future.

I just can't get why monster high dolls are so popular. Eventhough I'm into the supernatural I'm more into things like psychic powers then things like vampires and werewolfs, which are really popular at the moment. As for Lalaloopsy dolls I think they are cute, but I wouldn't consider them fashion dolls.
