I've been thinking about collecting dolls for awhile now. I've always been interested in dolls and everytime I pass the toy section at the store I will quickly look at the dolls and study their outfits for fashion insperation. Anyway I have a few questions about doll collecting. First, what kind of dolls should I collect? I've been thinking about collecting newer dolls like the liv girlz or moxie girlz dolls since it's harder to get older dolls like vintage barbie dolls. Also, should I keep them in the box? Finally, are there any other people here interested in doll collecting? I kind of feel like I'm the only one who's interested in doll collecting and I feel embarrassed that I'm almost 20 and still into dolls.

Wow, I get surprised by this ^^' It's nothing wrong with collecting dolls even tho you're 20! I knew a lady at age 60 who collected dolls :)

I collected dolls when i was around 10-12. I choose to collect dolls from different countries. preferable in their national costumes ^^ I think i have them left in a box someplace in my dads attic when to think of it O_o

I don't think you need to focus so much on a particular type of doll to collect i think you should wait till you find the doll of your dreams and then go with it :) It shouldn't matter so much if it a new doll or old doll. But i assume you like barbie dolls better than porcelain dolls?

I do believe a true collector would keep them in their original boxes, me however would never do that. I feel the magic is somewhat lost when the doll is trapped in her box :/ (even tho the boxes are very pretty these days) But i guess if you have space enough you could keep the original box someplace if you wanted to? I did so for the Tarina Tarantino barbie doll i bought not too long ago. But after a while i got annoyed of that box and i threw it anyway ^^'

I would love to collect dolls but at the moment the dolls i wish to collect are too expensive for me ^^ I hope to be able to but a BJD or a Pullip some day :)

Nice to have met another person who's interested in collecting dolls. I'm more into fashion dolls like barbie dolls, however barbie seems to be too much princesses and fairies for me. I like fashion dolls that dress the way teens today dress. I seem to be more into the newer fashion dolls than vintage ones so I guess I should collect newer ones.

I used to collect porcelain dolls when I was younger, I dug them out of storage to move them around a month or so ago, and started feeling nostalgic.....I think that, as soon as I find someplace to put them, out of storage, I might start collecting them again.

Because I liked the ones in Victorian-style clothes, and now that I took a really good look at them, I had so much fun finding out that they had bloomers and petticoats and everything, just like in lolita....

I also used to collect Barbie dolls, and was supposed to keep them in their boxes...but what can I say, I was a child, and all those limited-edition or special dolls ended up being much-loved. Hahaha.

Yek!........I'm 50, and I still love dolls! More and more since the appearance of BJDs and asian fashion dolls as Momoko, and Susie, ans Licca castle....etc....
And...I'm not blond, lol, I have two grown-up daughters, and I'm a scientist (archaeologist).

I'm getting a job soon so I'll finally have some money to go toward starting a doll collection. Unfortunately I'm still unsure of what kind of doll I should collect. I'm not going to be making a lot of money so I can't go for very exspensive dolls unless I try to save my money up for an exspenive doll which may be hard to do. As I mentioned earlier I'm more into newer dolls that dress the ways teens today dress. I'm very crafty and learning sewing and would maybe like to practice sewing clothes for my dolls. So what kind of doll do you think I should go for.

There's nothing wrong with collecting dolls when you're 20!! There are dolls that are made specifically for collecting purpose and are really fragile (so they're not actually suitable for kids, they're for adults)

you should collect pullip dolls :D They are really delicate but you can really customise them. You can change their wigs and eyes. You can rotate their eyes (so that they look to the right or left or closed) you can move their arms and legs. You can actually put make up on them as well :3 You can look for tutorials on that on youtube ^v^

I checked some websites that sell pullip dolls. They're nice looking, but also exspensive. I'll probably have to save a lot of paychecks in order to get one.  Also what is the best website to buy a pullip doll.

Try to browse eBay for Pullips, sometimes you can get some great deals on there (I got my DAL doll on eBay for less than it originally retailed in shops) :3

Good luck!
