So, the flooding in Nashville happened a few weeks ago, but I've decided to post up some things about it. I live a few hours away, but it still somewhat affected us (higher gas prices and such). The main reason I wanted to post this is that back in April our Mock Trial team went there for state competition and some of the streets of the main city that's show...I've walked down them. It just seems strange that little landmarks like Joe's Crab Shack or demos's or even the Rainforest Cafe that we enjoyed is practically gone now So, here's what I found about it. (also, the mall they showed, I had been there as well and bought a pair of chinese shoes because I wanted out of my heels)
This is the mall where I bought the shoes at. Many wonderful stores (including a Sanrio store) were flooded, as well as the famous Rainforest Cafe.
Gah, there were two videos supposed to show up, but they didn't. Here are the links. They have more photos of the surround areas.(assuming they work this time...)
Wow I had no idea this happened. I live in Atlanta, down south from you. Not sure far really. And this was not on the news. That I know of...
But what happened? Did a damn break or something? But I'm very happy to see that the people there are fighting. The government sucks and isn't very dependable. So I'm happy to see that people are depending more on themselves. Good Luck
What happened was that a very bad storm went through Tenessee. Where I live we didn't get it that bad because the moutains usually knock out most of the bad stuff (yay for living in the valley; last tornado was like, 15 years ago) and where Nashville is lying on such flat land, there were no places for all the rain to go except for up. The rivered flooded over and some roads collapsed because of all the water. If I remember correctly, Nashville got about 2 feet of rain, not including what came from the river. If you look at the picture with the stadium, you can really see how much there was. It flooded to the third row of seats
(am i the only one who can't see the pics? i'm starting to believe something's wrong with my computer)
terrible storm :( It's so awful when things like that happens :( Peoples homes flushed away in some hours. I'm glad you did fine in that valley of yours. Sounds like a safe spot :)
I see them just fine....if you can watch the videos, they're pretty much the same but in different places.
Our valley is very safe ^^ I can't remember a time when we actually had a major disaster here. Like I said, I remember the last tornado was about 14-15 years ago and it was tiny. :3 Although, I guess it would be bad if the storm formed after crossing the mountains...we'd be like a bowl of soup lol
I can imagine that! If a storm ever gets in it might take a while before it's able to get out again O_O
I love the first video you posted. It's so well done. It's a disaster, sure, but they're still proud citizens helping each other out! Made me all warm inside.

No i couldn't see the pictures either. I just watched the videos.
I live south of Nashville, and I remember May 1, which was a Saturday, my best friend and I were at an anime convention in Nashville. We had to leave early and miss a concert because the roads were flooding. If we didn't leave when we did, we wouldn't have gotten home till Monday. The road down from where I live was closed. Schools in my county were shut down for 2 or 3 days. I'm still in shock over what had happen.

Wow, it's good that you got out when you did. I'm sort of surious how they're going to clean up everything there. I just hope it doesn't go the way of New Orleans...
