Well I'm new here, as you might have guessed ^^

 

I'm Jenny, I'm 17 and from Leeds in England.

I'm an art student, currently studying at Leeds College of Art & Design, and it involves a lot more work than you'd think >.< haha~

 

Anyway, my fashion is Visual Kei, although I sometimes dabble in Gothic Lolita for special occasions (or just very cold days, because my one Lolita style coat is the warmest I own ^^).

 

I don't bite, and I'd really like to get to know some more VK fans, so come chat to me =^_^=

Hello Jenny, I'm Anri from Canada. We're almost the same age (just turned 18 a few months ago, also a first year).

Its cool that you live VK, I used to be super into VK and goth w/a bit of loli around two years ago when I first started out, but I never got around to actually wearing the clothes I thought was cool myself.  the loli clothes are so expensive

Loli clothes are really expensive, and so difficult to get ahold of where I live >.< Plus I'm not allowed to purchase over the internet so I try to make do with the dresses I can find in some of the alternative clothing stores there are in town. Oh and charity shops!

 

I find VK easier to dress in everyday anyway haha ^^

I online shop a lot so I've developed a kind of uncomfortable feeling outside but when I shop I feel so cool, lmao. If only we had shopping spree coupons, haha!

I think VK dressing is easier too but its just that I haven't got a lot of self-confidence to begin with, and even when I'm dressing basic/casual I feel self-conscious, so imagine if I go loli! 

These days I'm more into Korean streetwear though. (Thick long mufflers, hoodies, tights, and boots!) but I've got that pile of jewellery and girly stuff lying in my room T_T waiting for me to one day walk out in em, haha!

Aw really? That's odd. I've never been a confident person at all - I'm definately not the most successful people person, I think I only have friends because they talked to me first lol - but I feel like I mask that by wearing... different... clothes. I guess I felt that people would focus on the outfits and not me.

 

But at the same time I always resented being the same as everyone else, so that's another, completely contradictory reason for dressing the way I do. I am a walking contradiction haha

 

Well I think you should try it one time! ^^

 

I do like Korean street style though. I have a few Korean clothing websites bookmarked 'cause they have some pretty quirky clothing! And I see you like DBSK!! They're a not-so-guilty pleasure of mine teehee JaeJoong and Changmin are fighting for the top spot on my favourite member list ^^

JaeJoong and ChangChang are my top as well! Well Jae's been #1 for me since 3 years ago so I guess that's him, haha. But I consider Miura Haruma my Japanese kareshi 

For me, I don't like to attract attention so I try to tone it down, hehe. But I know what you mean by  the masking versus the individuality thing. I used to try to be different too, I still do but just.. not in a different category, 

Would the websites be Gmarket, YesStyle or Zipia? lol, I buy them there sometimes. I don't know a lot others though. Usually asian sites have high shipping/low quality though

Do you know Soompi?

YesStyle is one of them! I'm not sure about which others I have. But yeah, it has some pretty cool pieces. Really cute dresses and shorts ^^ I don't buy from there, because I can't >.< not yet anyhow. Once I turn 18... muahahaha

But I like to steal some inspiration from there haha!

Its basically a forum for people who are into kpop and the whole korean entertainment culture in general. Pretty popular among netizens actually. People even buy and sell there (that's how I got into the online shopping business, keke) you should check it out, the selling section is uber grand.
