Hm, that´s a very hard question, because I love reading! I deviour books with a vengeance! It´s one of my favorite things to do: curl up on the sofa/bed/chair/random object and read.

My tastes run from Science-fiction and fantasy novels to classic victorian novels. I will read nearly anything, or at least give it a try.

Just to name three of my favorites, I would say:

-Pride and Prejudice (by Jane Austen)
-The Twelve Kingdoms (by Fuyumi Ono)
-The Book of Night with Moon (by Dianne Duane)

As to favorite authors in general (meaning the ones that take up most space on my bookshelf), I´d have to say Anne Mccaffrey (a great science-fiction writer, an absolute classic), Mercedes Lackey (anything to do with fantasy fiction, from fairy-tales to regular fantasy), Fuyumi Ono (a pseudo-historical fantasy novel writer) and Matilde Asensi (writes historical fiction novels).

I am very sorry to admit that I don't read anymore. I loved reading as a kid and when i was about 10-13 years old i read every second of my time. However when i grew older I just read fewer and fewer, and now I've suddenly stopped :S (unless it's something with much pictures ;))

But the last book I read that went right to the top of my favorite books ever was a book Called Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. It's a book about werewolves and i was so enchanted I didn't wanted it to end!

Other books that have had a huge impact of my life would probably be the Harry Potter books. As a teenager those books was my oasis in the storm. Helped me through many difficult times.

I am also very found of some books i read as a kid. I have read them so many times and they're awesome every time :) Even tho they're for kids i still love them. Momo by Michael Ende is one of them. Another one is called Tordyveln flyger i skymningen by Maria Gripe. I'm afraid i don't know the title in  English, it's a Swedish author. (a direct translation would be the dor-beetle flies at dusk)

Hmmm....to choose a favorite is quite difficult, but I would have to say my current favorite is Hearts At Stake by Alyxandra Harvey, and I'm patiently waiting for the next book in the series. But other than that I'm addicted to the Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber. Umm, as you can tell I'm a big fan of vampire fiction, I don't know why, but I always have been. lol.

Oh man  this may be impossible...I'm constantly reading like 3 books at a time.  However, if I could bring it down to my top 8 that I can think of at the moment ('cause there are more like 20 ), it'd have to be (in no particular order):

1.) The DaVinci Code
2.) The Bible According to Mark Twain (reading it right now  )
3.) Loch
4.) Siddhartha
5.) ROTK
6.) Juunikokki
7.) Golden Lilies
8.) The Kamigawa series of Magic the Gathering books

hmmm

Right now I really love a book i finishes a few weeks ago, it's call Daughters of the Sea: Hannah by Kathryn Lasky. It's about a orphan girl who after leaving Boston, going to Kansas and coming back she gets put in a household as a scullery girl. This book takes place in the late 1800s. Even though I'm a couple years older than the person who recommended it to me, it was pretty darn good. :)

@Himechi: Juuni Kokki! :D Hahaha, another Twelve Kingdoms fan! :) The fourth volume of the series is being published in English just next week. I´m really excited. I wish I could get my hadnds on the french editions of the book; supposedly they´ve published all seven...

@Lolita_tobi: I love Howl´s Moving Castle too! I have it on my boookshelf. I like Dianna Wynne Jones´ books in general, though especially her Chrestomanci novels... I adore Chrestomanci. Have you read Castle in the Air? It´s the second book in the "Castle series". Howl and Sophie appear in it too, only more as secondary Characters. And she´s published a third book like that too (with Howl and Sophie and--their son!--not as main characters though) just a year or two back, I recently read it. It´s called "The House of Many Ways". I liked it better than the second one.

@Zeruda: Yes, usually as you grow older, it´s harder and harder to find time and the motivation to read. I know that nowadays I have less time to read than I used to...when I was younger, I went to the library, checked out 7 or 8 books, and came back the next week to check out another 7. I read a book a day. Now I would if I could, but there just isn´t time. Work, studying, doing other important stuff... :P Actually, I´ve read that book. Bitten, by Kelley Armstrong. I´ve read and own several of her books, if I remember correctly. They´re from the "women of the otherworld" series, or something like that. I really liked it.  And, of course, Harry Potter! Who hasn´t read at least one of the 7? Though personally I found the 7th book to be quite disappointing, especially when compared to the quality of writing in, say, the 4th book.

@Elly_ex: That book definitely sounds interesting. I think I´ll look into reading it.

Um anything by Francesca Lia Block she writes modern day farie tailsthat take place in LA, California ware you cant tell if whats happeningis real, a dream, drugs, or shes just makeing it up. I have to sayDangerous Angels (the Witzzie Bat sires) is like my bible I LOVE LOVELOVE everything about it. It is a MUST read. Also Girl Goddess #9 is acollection of short stories also written by Francesca and is also amazing.Violet and Claire made me so sad because its all about these two girlswho are just so perfectly best friends and how they were tutus and goto concerts and live in big mansions and I was like "I want a perfectbest friend who would do anything for me!" but still a must read!

My other favorites are:

First childrens books: The little Prince
A Wrinkle In Time
The Great Glass Elivator (a sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate factory which like through the looking glass most people forget and underestimate)
The Witches
Through the Looking glass
Know Vampire novels. I started reading vampire novels in 6th grade before all of this Twilight shenanigans (no offense if you like them). So here are my favorites:
Anything by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. She wrote the first in her sires In the Forest of the Night when she was 13 and its still one of my favorites. You all should also read Hawk Song which isnt a vampire flick but its by here and fabulous.
Shattered Mirrore (also by here)
On the note of vampire people should try watching the Swedish vampiremovie Let the Right One in (which has the most cleaver title I mustadd). It isnt my favorite vampire movie but its still really good.
The Vampire Diaries which everyone seems to be forgetting was written LONG befor Twilightand is much much better. (again Twilight is a fine teen love novel butthere are far better books as fare as purely vampire stories go)
In General:
Green Mirrore (about a girl with a bad home life so she illustrates her life. Its crazy, intense and moving and a little frustrating.)
Fireflys (a sad but very good book about domestic violence and how a girl escapes it)
Harry Potter (of coarse)
Blood and Chocolate (a werewolf book)
Kissing doorknobs (about being obsessive compulsive)
This Lulaby (a lovely romance novel)
oh and some others that ill remember later and be like AAA why did I forget those! goodness do you think that list was long enough

new lolita blog!
