"Tokyo is trending"

www.thisislondon.co.uk - So, apparently J-fashion´s popularity is beginning to rise enough that people are noticing. Specifically, the newspaper "London Evening standard" explains that "Tokyo is trending: the rise of J-pop".

Check out the article here.

Gothic Lolita and Sweet Lolita are mentioned in passing, and even Visual  and Oshare Kei get a mention.

I found it refreshing to see a short article that mentions these asian fashions in a positive light (if quite briefly), and even says that some western high fashion is getting a bit of influence from them. It goeas as far as saying that these fashions are the future....

What do you think? Do you like the mention? Or are you against being clumped together with the "anime addicts" that´ll be attending Hyper Japan? I found it funny that anime addicts were included as a "Japanese fashion tribe", personally...

And my mom says that I am one of the few that care....HA!
I have attended Hyper Japan and the focus of this event is more fashion and culture based than other UK cons such as the MCM Expo, which focus more on anime/otaku. A lot of the people there probably wont even be anime fans. I am an anime fan, but I attend because of the lolita and fashion stalls. I already have my outfit planned for the Feb one!
*sigh* Why....
They are clumping it all up together because they don't really know too much about it, only that it is "trending". When it continues to spread, so will the knowledge.
I stopped watching anime after 7th grade. I just grew out of that phase. It was around the time too when I started becoming interested in Japanese fashion!
yeah, I am no longer an anime addict... in fact i stopped watching anime after I moved to Japan! I am just a kawaii addict!
Yay I'm glad they are at least beginning to notice....However, just clumping together is a no go...I think people need to see the bigger picture to it all. I mean I love anime, but that's not why i love Japanese fashion. It's so much more than what they are saying.
