Hello! I'm Namie~ I live in sunny southeast USA. I'm a graduate student in Creative Writing and freelance graphic designer.
I've been interested in Japanese pop culture -- anime, drama, fashion -- for nearly 10 years :3 My favorite j-fashions are lolita, mori girl, dolly kei, and natural kei. I feel like they are all different interpretations of fairytale clothing. I have a soft spot for the sweet colors and sparkles of fairy kei too!
Aside from writing and designing, I like to cook, especially bake, craft and collect Asian beauty products ~♥
I also love to game.

Yay! I'm so glad~ I was worried it got lost in the mail! I hope you enjoy everything inside and that it will bring you many smiles in the darkest of days~ It made me so happy to put it together! ^__^
It sure will! I put the star from lush in my bathroom and it smells so wonderful I start smiling everytime i enter ^^ All the other things are placed a little here and there so I can see them all the time and be reminded of how lucky I am to have a friend like you! ♥
It's nice to know that someone else understands. Here I am complaining about my added stress, yet here you are going to grad school and doing three jobs! Talk about Wonder Woman!
Tomorrow is my 'screw you all' day. I'm going to turn my phone off and wallow around in bed after I finish with doctors. Everyone deserves one of those days
Hm, that's weird... it's unfortunate that you had that experience. But don't let it spoil your chance to make other lolita friends! There are a lot of other lolitas in New York. Maybe you can find some nicer people to make friends with than those 3~
My friend isn't a lolita. Actually, I've only met *one* lolita in my university (which is kind of a big university) and we never really got to know each other because and we had very different classes and stuff. And I didn't wear lolita at the time I was afraid that I would come off as someone who would just be fangirling over her outfits, because the first time I met her, I was like OMG YOU'RE A LOLITA! THAT IS SO COOL. I think she must have graduated by now too.
I wanted to see if I could organize some kind of on campus meetup, because who knows? there might be some lolitas on campus. But I'm just too busy right now with the start of the semster to deal with that right now.
Yes, I have made other lolita friends since. Thank you. :) You are sweet. Aha I see where you're coming from. n_n; oy. Well, that's cool. It is a possibility. It's good to keep busy. Make sure you relax too. Take care always! :) -Emily
No, it's not a problem. I'm half-Arab and half-Chinese.
I think that's my parents' (and one of my siblings') issue with the fashion. When I show my mom a picture from a GLB, sometimes she will say something "Oh, when are you going to grow up?" But to me, dressing prettily doesn't have to be restricted by age and who is to tell me what pretty is for my age group? :/
But I also noticed that I'm very desensitized to the "weirdness" of lolita, because I've been interested in it (and other Japanese fashions) for so long. So, when I look at a lolita dress, I don't see anything odd about it, the way most other people do.
I bet you are beautiful. Sorry if that sounds creepy. x.x I don't mean to be creepy, of course. xD Same here. It's not weird to me at all. ^_^ Most things aren't weird to me. o.O' But now I'm just being redundant I suppose. e.e; But yes, I fully agree--aesthetics depend on the eye of the beholder. And our penchance happens to be for a atypical style of clothing eh. Hope you are well!
Yeah, my friend moved to New York to attend university, but she went to a really small private uni and she said it's kind of hard when you stand out. Everyone seems to have such a crappy attitude at her school. She does like the city though, because there are a lot of good places to eat and shop.
There seem to be a lot of meetups in NY -- have you ever attended one? That would give you a good chance to wear lolita without standing out too much.
I have attended very few meetups, unfortunately. There are quite a few. Does your friend attend them as well? It is ironic that the first time I went out wearing lolita in the city for an event, a hobo-esque man shouted something extremely rude at me. That doesn't sound ironic at all--it is because I was with at least three other girls dressed in lolita accompanying me. I always hear and think "strength in numbers," and yet that time showed me that that's not always the case...and I was singled out, and my friends didn't say a word to me about it. They were walking at my heels, and yet it seemed like they didn't hear the rude words spoken to me. I still wonder about that.... e___e Hm. *shrug*..
